At Applebee Wood School, partnership with parents and carers is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to building positive, trusting relationships that help our pupils thrive and support families throughout their child's educational journey.

We achieve this by:

Maintaining open and effective communication through Class Dojo, newsletters, social media and our website.
Working closely with parents to understand and meet the individual needs of each child.
Providing regular updates on learning, development and progress, alongside opportunities for parents to engage in target-setting and transition meetings.
Offering informative workshops and parent sessions, helping families support learning at home.
Delivering dedicated pastoral support for children and their families when needed.
Ensuring smooth transitions into school, between key stages and onwards to post-16 opportunities through comprehensive planning and specialist guidance.
Working collaboratively with our Trust and governing body to strengthen support for pupils and families.
Making key policies easily accessible and ensuring they are clear, consistent and up to date.
Creating opportunities for parents, governors and staff to build strong community relationships.

Parent feedback consistently highlights that families value the support provided by the school and feel that their children are happy, safe and making good progress in their learning.

Leading Parent Partnership Award

The Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) has recognised the strength of our parent partnership work during its most recent visit in June 2026, acknowledging the school's commitment to effective communication, family support, parental engagement and the strong relationships developed between home and school.

What is the LPPA award?

Here at Applebee Wood, we want to ensure that as a school we work effectively with our parents and the local community. As a school we value the support and contribution that parents and carers make to children’s school life, both within and beyond the classroom. The award is founded on research which shows that there is a very positive impact on achievement, behaviour and attendance in schools where parents are supported and therefore engaged in their children’s learning. Feedback from parents and carers is extremely important and we want to hear your views and improve our current practice.

As of the 21st June 2026, Applebee Wood School has been reaccredited with the LPPA for a further 3 years.
