Religious Education and Collective Worship
At Applebee Wood School, we are committed to helping all children and young people develop an understanding and appreciation of the diverse, multicultural society in which we live. We promote respect for different cultures, faiths and beliefs, encouraging learners to value and celebrate diversity.
Throughout the year, we recognise and celebrate a range of important religious and cultural festivals. These experiences enhance our Religious Education (RE) curriculum and support learning within Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education and Citizenship.
Learners participate in a weekly assembly that explores a variety of themes, values and current topics. These themes are further discussed and reinforced during form time, in ways that are appropriate to the individual needs and understanding of our learners.
Parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child from Religious Education lessons or collective worship. Anyone wishing to discuss this should contact the Headteacher to arrange an appointment. Appropriate alternative provision will be made where required.
